Government Scheme
MAHARASHTRA NAV TEJASWINI YOJANA

The Maharashtra cabinet have approved the Nav Tejaswini Yojana on October 8, 2020. Individual Beneficiary, or women Self-Help Groups, will get Rs. 523 crore for the Nav Tejaswini Scheme, which will be implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) (SHGs). Through women’s self-help groups, which are an efficient way to improve the living conditions of low-income households, this initiative focuses on the development of women.

The Maharashtra Nav Tejaswini Scheme would make sure that underprivileged rural women have access to more resources and support. It would provide access to financial services and support women’s self-help groups. By enhancing members’ skill sets and providing market and policy assistance, the Rural Women’s Empowerment Scheme will increase income creation.

This programme will improve women’s access to labor-saving infrastructure and functional literacy. Additionally, the new Tejaswini project will increase women’s involvement in local government and support laws that give women more power.

The Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal will be in charge of implementing the Nav Tejaswini Yojana. MAVIM is a state-run organisation that promotes women’s empowerment and gives SHG women jobs. About 10 lakh rural families will benefit from the Nav Tejaswini Scheme. Such rural families will receive financial assistance from the Nav Tejaswini Rural Women’s Empowerment Initiative to help them escape poverty. The Tejaswini programme would also help women get low-interest loans.

Provisions for encouraging rural women entrepreneurs in Maharashtra have also been approved by the cabinet committee of the Maharashtra government. The state government will provide cash totaling Rs. 190 crore, while the International Funds for Agriculture Development (IFAD) would award Rs. 333 crore for this purpose. This funding is intended to promote and assist rural women entrepreneurs.

Rural Women Entrepreneurship in Nav Tejaswini Rural Women Empowerment Programme:

Self Help Groups (SHGs) are a strategy used by the Maharashtra state government to financially empower women. The MAVIM is actively promoting the SHG movement in rural areas. Women did not possess property, so they could not independently obtain loans through any organised banking institution. Currently, loans are offered through SHGs, but they are minimal and sanctioned to the self-help groups rather than the individual women members.

Even when they are qualified and trained for the workforce or entrepreneurship, women still have trouble getting loan approvals. Women have trouble obtaining financing to start small businesses, produce commodities, and other things. The Maharashtra Nav Tejaswini Rural Women Empowerment Program will therefore prove to be ground-breaking. The Nav Tejaswini Yojana will put a focus on giving women personal loans and bank-linking SHGs’ Individual Beneficiary.

Vikel to Pikel Initiative in Nav Tejaswini Scheme

The Maharashtra government intends to advance SHGs to the next level through the Vikel Te Pikel project under the Nav Tejaswini Scheme. This would be accomplished by taking proactive measures like forming their cooperatives, federation, and businesses. Laying emphasis on local need, productivity and demand, Vikel to Pikel Scheme will focus on procuring products from SHGs.

IFAD will provide the groups with world standard training and direction in order to improve the quality and presentation of SHG goods. Furthermore, thanks to current technology, SHG products will be produced on par with those of private and corporate producers. MAVIM will offer all support possible for product branding, packaging, and quality.

The main goals of the Nav Tejaswini Yojana are to nurture children, empower women, and create a healthy Maharashtra. The Tejaswini project will also emphasise women’s and children’s nutrition. Additionally, efforts will be made to expand women’s participation in the decision-making process while also acknowledging the situation of women.
